Loving the colours and rustiness of these mason jars by Beach Blues. Perfect for storing flowers, stationery bits and little bitty bobs lying around the desk!

Okay, so I feel awful, awful for neglecting this blog space for such a long time. Since launching the shop last year, I’ve been trying to get some kind of organised, non-chaotic system going in my office. I’ve accepted the fact that my desk will always look chaotic but I’m glad that I’m beginning to adjust to a bit of a daily routine here. This will hopefully mean more concentrated efforts on blogging from here on.
So anyway, it was my birthday last week and I was taken on an all expense paid for trip down to Melbourne for a few days with my sister and brother’s girlfriend. I have to say, I was completely spoilt this year! The entire trip was funded by the hubby but planned entirely by these girls who surprised me the whole way through! They are seriously my most favourite people in the whole wide world! Love you girls. We did everything a 30 year old gal could ask for. It was simply blissful and so nice to get out of town.
This was my third time back to Melbourne and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of this place. The little alleyways are my favourite and I just love how they’re always buzzing with people, food and treasure-like finds. Dear Sydney Council, we really need to do something like this with our city and buzz up some of our boring alleyways!!! please?! Oh wait, maybe you should fix our transport system first! ha! just saying.
…and…a few random snaps from the trip with my iPhone.
Burch and Purchese – Darren Purchese was in the kitchen today so we got to say hello. He is super lovely. Thank you Darren for the salted caramel choc pops! (was it because you knew it was my b’day?) I think so.
We had brekky at Small Victories and it was a m a z i n g! My favourite place in Melb so far. I’m drooling just looking back at my pics. Will definitely head back here next time for the lunch and dinner menu.
A few years ago, during my first trip to Melb, I tried Seven Seeds coffee at Brother Baba Budan so when I heard that De Clieu also served up Seven Seeds I was super excited! We ordered a Capp but then decided to order the Cold Brew as well because the couple on the table next to us had one and it looked super cool in a small glass jar served on a stripy tray. Have to say, it’s not really my thing. Definitely prefer my coffee with milk. The rhubarb cupcake was super moist!
My husband likes to bake bread so we decided to stop over at Phillippa’s to pick up a loaf for him as a souvenir. Of course, I couldn’t resist picking up a large piece of Oat and Pear Slice too!
As a birthday gift I was taken to the very posh Vue De Monde. Told you I was spoilt.

It’s so nice to finally smell spring and some warm weather…and I can seriously smell summer already too! These daffodils and pancakes were the highlights of my long week…and how cute is that mo paper cup from Joe Black? I asked the waitress if I could take a couple home. These snaps were taken via instagram which is so much fun to use. Have a lovely weekend! x

Really enjoyed brunch at cafe enzo while we were at the hunter valley a few weekends ago! I love cafes that are decked out with pretty trinkets, nice artwork and lovely decor…I think it’s just as important as having yummy food! I couldn’t help but take a few (or many!) snaps of the place myself…

I’m just a little obsessed with stylist Femke Pastijn and her website right now! everything is styled so perfectly. I’m really liking the neutral tones with pops of neons and pastels – totally my kind of palette!

Hope we all had a lovely weekend! Despite it being VERY windy in Sydney over the weekend, Simon and I managed to get up to the Hunter Valley (without being blown over the cliff) to celebrate our “10 years of being together”. A friend used the words “one decade of being together” and immediately I imagined us with wooden canes. I suppose IT IS a very long time! We’ve been married for almost 2 years, but were dating for 8 years before that. It’s hard to believe how quickly time flies by!
On the topic of time flying, Papercookie turned a month old last Friday! It has been one hell’ova crazy month but a really good, warm and fuzzy kinda crazy. The best part of it all has been meeting lots of lovely new people who are totally cool, awesome and supportive… and I really wouldn’t have it any other way!
So at the hunter valley… we scored ourselves 10 bottles of wine and about 5 different types of cheese. I just loooove cheese in every form and I don’t care that I’ll be eating cheese everyday for the next 6 months. We’re going to try and “age” a couple of bottles of wine. Though the keyword really is to “try”. hmmm we’ll see how that goes. Below are some photos we took on our little day trip! I recently joined Instagram as well, so you can see more of my random happenings here!

…These chocolate chip cookie-dough brownies! I’m not usually of the chocolate kind….but I love cheesecakes and fudgey brownies and anything with that kind of texture! Although these brownies might sound really rich, they’re actually not that sweet so it comes together quite deliciously! They’re perfect for when you just need a bite size of something ‘sweet or chocolatey’ and they’re so quick to whip together!
Recipe from here. Have a lovely weekend!

A few of my favourite things this week…
one: The new handbag range at Tilkah. I love this Melbourne based brand… and they’re offering Free Shipping for all of July!
two: Arn’t these Royal Doulton mugs the coolest? Anything that looks dipped is pretty cool right now but these colours are just so awesome! I scored myself this pack of 4 at Peter’s of Kensington for only 21 bucks! yes, a whole pack of 4! I like my mugs nice and big and these are just the perfect size!
three: Some smooth chocolate by the bald man himself. Such cute packaging I had to throw this in – looks like a cigarette pack but is full of yummy delicious milk chocolate thins by Max Brennar.
four: Is it a house? Is it a wooden board? its a wooden board house! This adds so much quirkiness to our little kitchen. We use it like a little tray to hold hot bowls of soup and also as a bread board.
six: Love the green on this Kate Spade scarf!
seven: How did I ever miss knowing about Frida Plumm? Her range is stunning! and the truth is I only just discovered her yesterday via HSF. These tea light vessels are soooo goooorgeous and I really love the metallic touches!!
nine: I love these cosy warm and really adorable slippers – The sleepwear king always warms my heart with his cute PJ’s…and now he’s warming my toes.

1. Weekend brunches are totally my favourite meals of the week and I got to catch up with friends at Bourke St Bakery for a Sunday brunch. I love how they have water doggie bowls outside and how everyone brings their doggies out here for brunch… we need more pet friendly places like this around!
2. Love this cool wall at Double Roasters. Just saying…
3. Packaging, packaging, stamping, stamping!
4. A deliciously fresh coconut – oh em gee, we didn’t realise how difficult it was to open one, so we whipped out the hammer and taa-daaa! This coconut made me quite happy. We picked this one up from our local asian grocer and the juice was incredibly sweet! Even better than the ones we had in Thailand! will return for more…wait for me coconuts.
5. A meat pie from Pie Face. My sisters boyfriend bought the pie – I liked the packaging and love their big pie face stickers! ha!
6. Some of the best food places are simply a hole in the wall – like this pork roll place in Marrickville! It’s teeny tiny and probably stands 2 people inside but is my go to place for pork and chicken rolls. Bring on the pate!
7. Popped a bottle of cloudy bay at my brother’s girlfriends’ place to celebrate the launch of Papercookie!
8. Husband made bread with walnuts! He loves making bread and hasn’t stopped making bread. but I am so ‘bread-ed’ out so I asked him to stop.making.bread. for a while…never did I ever think that I would say no to carbs.
9. Sorting out storage space for some new arrivals coming to the shop. Thank you ikea for being 5 mins away.
10. A berry custard tart from Croquembouche to finish off the week.
